Are Libertarians RACISTS?

What is racism?

1.   the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races

2.   discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of another race

Rand Paul and his father Ron truly believe the government should never tell a private for profit business it can’t discriminate.  They like all Libertarians think government has no role to play in private business.

For most Libertarians to the above questions is; no to #1 and yes to #2.  So by definition they are racist because they support a policy that supports discrimination based on race.

This all came up when Rand said he didn’t support the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  It bars discrimination based on race for any business that offers service to the public.

Rand and his racist buddies say government should be forced not to discriminate, but not individuals and private business.

All business is private.  We don’t buy anything from the government.  Food, housing, clothing, medicine, cars, you name it we buy it from private business.

So can a business charge minorities more than white people?  Yes.  I should say HELL YES!  That is what Rand and his buddies would say.  Government has no say in this.

So what they are for is the following:

1.   Homes for sale have signs that say white only (NO NIGGERS)

2.   Restaurants say white only (NO NIGGERS)

3.   Shops say whites only (NO NIGGERS)

4.   Insurance companies that say white only (NIGGER pay 50% more)

5.   Banks that say loans to white only (NIGGERS pay a higher fee and higher rates)

You get the idea.  But this isn’t racist.  Really!  What is it?  It is the individual’s right to be free from evil government regulation.  The founding fathers were against government regulation, these patriots scream.

We know what the founding fathers were trying to accomplish by what they said in the Preamble to our US Constitution:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general  Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

How does allowing discrimination establish justice and promote the general welfare ?  It doesn’t.

The equal protection clause in the Bill of Rights, says all people must be treated equally.  If I have the price of a meal and you have a public café, I get to buy the meal.  You can’t say no blacks will be served.

Rand Paul and his daddy say yes people can simply not serve blacks or charge them more or whatever they like and that is the definition of “establish Justice” and that in fact “promotes the general welfare.”

Are Libertarians stupid?  Are they too dumb to see what has just been written?  No.  They know the above is true and they still like the idea that people have the right to treat one person different based on his race.

That is racism.  The belief and practice of discrimination based on race.  Rand may in fact not practice discrimination but he supports your right to be a racist and to discriminate against people based on race.

The Tea Party and Tea Baggers are mostly against the same law and for the right of the individual to both be a racist and to discriminate against others based on race.

Rand is also a Christian.  Or is he?

Matthew 22:39-40 

39"The second is like it, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'

Matthew 7:12 GOLDEN RULE -

12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

John 14:15 “If ye love me keep my commandments.”

thejcrevelator2, you ask a very important question." Are libertarians stupid?" Unfortunately, the answer is obvious but they are smart enough to join the Republican Party because they look so much like Republicans until you scratch a little under the surface. As far as the Tea Party is concerned, every time I examine an allegation about them and racism it has come up false. Liberty is one thing and Libertarianism is another, please don't confuse the two. All freedom loving Americans no matter what party want liberty, just not liberty libertarian style.

Maybe some Libertarians are Racist. Not all will be racist. Those are two distinctly different atttributes.

While I understand that most folks in the world think in terms of categorizing people by arbitrary labels, I also always think back to my grandfathers lesson about apples. He demostrated once by examining a barrel of apples. He said, just because that one apple is rotten to the core doesn't mean they are all rotten. The other ones are good apples.

All the real Libertarians I've met are good apples.

Well I guess I agree - not all Libertarians are racists. But they oppose laws that prohibit discrimination based on race. It is a fine line and one I think is not good for America.

My point was their refusal to support the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

If all Ls aren’t racist, they all can’t be good guys. There has to be some logic on both sides.

The real problem with Libertarians is they make no sense in the real world. We have to have laws and regulations and all the stuff this brings if we want a civilized country.

Saying we can get rid of the FDA. FCC, EPA, IRS, Social Security, Medicare, etc is both wrong and irresponsible.

All libertarians are racist like how all Muslims are Arabs and all the US founding father's were hardcore christian. Our perspective of groups are often skewed by society's assumptions and the media (because a sane Libertarian talking about everyone's equal rights is boring and won't draw viewers). Essentially judging an entire group from one example is prejudice.

Libertarians believe that everyone has rights. However, no one has the right to infringe upon other people's rights. It is the government's job to protect the rights of all citizens. It is also to tax for programs decided by the people for the common welfare of everybody. Does not everyone have the right to good health or just those with money?

Libertarian's like every other group have factions of various belief's and ideals. There are social libertarians and there are neo-liberal libertarians.

Just remember both Rand Paul and the Dalai Lama are libertarians,and Fred Phelps and Mother Teresa are both members of the Christian Faith. The extremes don't represent the norm.

Continue the good work of questioning perceptions and representations.

I have a few hubs and articles on Business Insider dealing with this. Technically, Peter Schiff is not a racist, however, he believes in making the ability to choose racism a civil right! The libertarians appeal to their principles, but as I have written the principles are flawed and eccentric.

For example, the libertarians believe that the invisible hand of self regulation will make all this work out and the racists won't be able to make money by being racist. This of course is ridiculous, as racism will rear its ugly head at first opportunity.
