Libya – AMERICAN Hypocrisy
America once again shows a total hypocrisy in helping those oppressed by dictators.
Libya is in a civil war between a terrible dictator and a minority of freedom fighters, who declared they want freedom and took over a few cities.
But there are dictators and then there are AMERICAN protected dictators. Libya is run by Gaddafi, not one of our FAVORED dictators.
It is game on and we have begun the bombing attacks that will produce many innocent deaths. Yes when you fire missiles and drop bombs people die. Not just bad people, but anyone in the general area is going to be killed or wounded; men, women and children.
“What is happening in Libya differs from the aim of imposing a no-fly zone,” he (Head of the Arab League) said in a statement on the official Middle East News Agency. “And what we want is the protection of civilians and not the shelling of more civilians.”
You mean INNOCENT people are killed when we drop bombs and fire missiles? SURPRISE!
Who are these brave Libyan freedom fighters we are supporting? No one knows. Let me repeat this – NO ONE KNOWS – they could be Hamas, Hezbollah, or maybe not. No one knows who they are or what they will do if they get power.
The real question is what happens after we blow-up a lot of stuff, kill a lot of people and Gaddafi is still winning against a groups of untrained rebels? Gaddafi has helicopters, tanks, a trained military and hired mercenaries. He has billions to fund the war. The freedom fighters (rebels) have limited resources and no real army.
There will be pressure for UN troops (meaning US troops) to be sent to fight for the rebels (WHO ARE THEY?). We may get another corrupt government like the one we have in Afghanistan and a local resistance, like the Taliban. What then? This will certainly mean more troops and more US taxpayer money. We get another occupation and all the benefits of trying to build a democracy in a country like Afghanistan.
There are over 140 different tribes in Libya. Each has its own leaders and many hate the other tribes. This should be a lot of fun, if you think Iraq and Afghanistan are fun? They have no constitution and no idea of how to establish and run a democracy.
But the bigger issue is what about the freedom fighters in the AMERICAN protected dictatorships in the world?
There are freedom fighters trying to do the same thing the Libyan freedom fighters are doing in:
1. Saudi Arabia
2. Yemen
3. Bahrain
In fact, we are supporting the dictators in these countries and helping them kill their freedom fights. The Saudis sent thousands of their US trained Saudi troops into Bahrain to help the dictator there kill the freedom fighters in that American supported dictatorship.
The world sees out HYPOCRISY. We see out HYPOCRISY and no one says a thing.
All Americans support the CONCEPT of helping people gain freedom and democracy. The concept! If we really cared about any of this we would demand the same freedom for the freedom fighters in the countries listed above and for Communist China, the largest and most brutal of all dictatorships.
The dictators in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain and China are just as bad, if not worse than Gaddafi. Everyone knows this and yet no one says a thing.
There is no freedom of speech, press or religion in the above countries and no democracy.
We need to have a national discussion about what the American role is in the world with regard to dictatorships. The US has a huge federal deficit and US military spending is out of control. We are in two unwinnable occupations supporting corrupt governments and there is still no peace in these countries. In both Iraq and Afghanistan the killings go on and will not stop, as long as our troops are there. Can we afford to spend another trillion on more war and occupation?
What America should do is announce that we will NOT do business with any country that doesn’t provide freedom to their people and isn’t actively moving toward democracy. We should put a date on this like six months from now. Corporations who support these dictators can sell their products somewhere else.
America should not be involved in any wars that don’t directly and immediately threaten our safety. Libya doesn’t fit the profile for us to go to war. That is unless we are acting on principle and then we must take the same actions against the above named countries or we are HYPOCRITES.
What say you? Am I right?

NM, but how we are helping Libya now? Aren't there citizens that killed from hands of "helpers"? "Helpers" always choose strange methods for humanity...

WE can't let Libya murder their own citizens, they asked for outside help. We have to try and help them. Not a pretty picture, but people are tired of being supressed!
