Paul Ryan – “It’s NOT a budget it’s a CAUSE!!!!”

 

People tend to forget who the parties in the political fight are and what they want.

 Let’s review so we can see the real agenda.

Republicans:

1.   Eliminate government Social Security

2.   Put all the social security taxes in Wall Street accounts and let Goldman manage your money – your benefits will be cut by 40%  

3.   Eliminate government Medicare

4.   Take the Medicare taxes you paid and give them to “for profit” insurance companies – you get a voucher for about 60% of the current cost of your care

5.   Cut taxes for the richest American, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and the others at the very top

6.   Raise taxes on the middle-class

7.   Cut taxes on big corporations

8.   Eliminate all government regulation; IRS, EPA. FDA, FAA, FDIC, SEC

9.   Increase military spending and US foreign military bases, stay in Iraq and Afghanistan, invade Libya and attack Iran

Democrats:

1.   Maintain government Social Security with modifications, increase the retirement age and eliminate the limit for the rich of $106,000 – tax all wages – now the CEO who makes $52 million doesn’t have to pay FICA tax on 99% of his wages, capped at $106,000

2.   Maintain government Medicare and reform the system to reduce the costs

3.   Raise taxes on the richest Americans, the top 1% paid just a 22% income tax rate in 2009 – they made $8.4 million and paid just $1.6 million in taxes, Buffett brags he paid just a 17% tax rate

4.   Raise the actual taxes corporations pay, GE made $14 Billion and paid NO corporate income TAXES

5.   Get rid of tax subsidies for oil companies that cost us billions  

6.   Reduce military spending

7.   Stay out of new wars, don’t send US troops to Libya

8.   Get out of Iraq and Afghanistan

9.   Maintain the government regulation and agencies that protect us all

 

When all the rhetoric is done that is what is at stake.  Republicans are fighting a cause and the budget has little or no meaning in this cause.  They HATE all things government and especially government programs that help anyone other than the rich and corporations.

Now keep in mind that the Republicans are tougher and meaner and love to fight.  The Democrats are wimps who hate to fight and always want to compromise.  In fact, the Democrats want to be friends with the Republicans who hate them.

This political war will not be pretty.  If we add in Obama it is a real crap shoot, because Obama is a mystery.  He isn’t someone you can easily read.  He too likes to make deals and to compromise. 

The best a Liberal can hope for is stalemate.  In chess if you can’t win you try to tie.  That’s about as good as it can get for the last three Liberals in America; me, Bernie Sanders and someone else?  There are so few I can only name two.
