Should George Bush be indicted for TORTURE?
Two victims of US torture have filed complaints against the former President George Bush. Several groups including The Center for Constitutional Rights have filed briefs in support of this indictment.
Torture is against the law in 147 countries including the USA. In fact America has indicted and tried people for the same acts Bush ordered.
The indictment was filed in Switzerland February 7 of this year. Since torture is against both US and international law the charges can be brought in any of the 147 countries that are party to the treaty.
The facts are well known. Bush ordered “enhanced interrogation” for SUSPECTED terrorist supporters. The enhanced interrogations included:
1. Starvation – held without food and water
2. Head slapping and slamming – prisoners had their hands tied behind their backs and then had their heads rammed into plywood walls
3. Sensory deprivation – prisoners were kept naked, heads covered with a bag and awake for hours and days without food; kept extremely cold and drenched with cold water
4. Water boarding – simulated drowning that causes panic and the fear of death - this was used on a limited number of prisoners
5. Refused to provide medical treatment for wounded prisoners
George Bush and Dick Chaney have continually bragged about the above and have said they would do these same things again.
In an interview with Matt Lauer in November of 2010 Bush again bragged about ordering torture.
All the top Bush administration people including Rumsfeld, Rice, Chaney and all their staff supported these measures even when they were advised these acts are against both US and international law.
Bush, Chaney, Rumsfeld and Rice all claim to be Christians. Are they really? Can someone who claims Jesus Christ as their personal savior order one of God’s children be tortured?
The Obama administration will not pursue any charges against anyone from the Bush administration. Obama doesn’t really believe in holding people accountable for crimes they commit.
The Tea Party and the right-wing Republicans that claim to believe in the rule of law, say what Bush ordered is fine. In fact, the Republicans would be torturing people today if they had won in 2008.
I guess there are many questions to be asked. A few are:
1. Should we pull out of all international laws and say we will torture anyone we like?
2. Should we pass a law that says local police can torture anyone that they think represents (SUSPECTS) a threat to society?
3. Should we torture convicted felons who could provide information on others who broke the law? I’m thinking about the stock brokers, bankers and others convicted of fraud; maybe they know others who committed fraud?
4. Should torture become one of the values America stands for? Like support for dictators, democracy and freedom?
The world knows we did these things. They know we support dictators while screaming we love democracy and freedom. Why not just be HONEST and say we are the most powerful county in the world and we will do whatever we like, to whomever we like, whenever we like.
Jesus Christ:
Matthew 22:37-40
37And He said to him, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'
38"This is the great and foremost commandment.
39"The second is like it, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
40" On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."
Matthew 7:12 GOLDEN RULE -
12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
Matthew 25:44-46
44"Then they themselves also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?'
45 "Then He will answer them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these (JC included prisoners), you did not do it to Me.'
46"These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
John 14:15 “If ye love me keep my commandments.”
What say you? Should Bush be indicted?

After considerable research on Bush and Cheney and watching countless videos, I feel that they should BOTH be indicted. This may not be a "popular" thing to speak out about, but I feel that it places our country in a tremendously bad light to let these people go free-- without any form of punishment for the orders that they gave to torture prisoners.
There is an entire website dedicated to this: IndictBushNow.org
The last time I checked this website, they had over 150,000 signatures towards creating a petition to move forward.
