The lesser of two EVILS – is EVIL!
For my entire lifetime the USA – land of the FREE, has been selecting the lesser of two evils. We supported almost every single dictator in the world at one time or another.
The excuse was always false. It is stated the above clearly. We supported and gave Saddam Hussein billions in US taxpayer dollars to fight a war with Iran that killed over on million people. We helped overthrow democratically elected governments in a dozen states and claimed the dictator we installed was the “lesser of two evils.”
We currently support dictators worldwide. In the case of Egypt we were told that the only options were a dictator who would do what we wanted or the Muslim Brotherhood who wouldn’t do what we wanted.
The Muslim Brotherhood is not the majority in Egypt. Objective estimates put their support at less than 15%. They would not win a fair democratic election and would have little control. This fact is never really discussed.
As with every single case where we support EVIL dictators our government continues to lie to us and tell us this is the only choice. They never say we can support freedom, democracy or none of the above. They never really even try to find a non-evil option.
In fact, our government loves dictators. They are much easier to control. We simply bribe them with billion of US taxpayer dollars and provide the CIA to help them stay in power. One reason our government loves dictators is our large corporations love them. Our corporations have a long history of exploiting third world countries. Their model is support a powerful corrupt dictator; use him to extract oil, minerals and any other natural resources and leave toxic waste sites for the poor to deal with. In many cases the US government has been a partner in these deals, providing military and secret police help.
In no case should an America that says they believe in democracy, freedom of speech, press and religion support a dictator. In all cases we should stand by our principles and demand all people be treated with respect and have the same freedoms we enjoy.
What America needs to admit is what the rest of the world knows; America believes in freedom for Americans and no one else. Our freedoms are for us and no one else. In fact, we have some right-wing elected congressmen and senators trying to get laws passed that deny American freedoms to resident non-citizens.
America supports the following dictators; Iraq (Saddam Hussein): Saudi Arabia, Communist China, Jordan, Yemen, Turkmenistan, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Somalia, Eritrea to name a few of the dictators we support. Your tax dollars support all the above or factions in these countries. In fact, we are helping the lesser of two evil kill people as I write.
Our acknowledged allies are Communist China, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen and others. None of these countries allow any personal freedom. There is no democracy and no freedom in these countries and yet your tax dollars support them.
It is past time for the USA to stop all support for dictators and to demand any country that wants to do business in the USA must provide basic freedoms to their citizens. I know America can’t tell other countries what to do, but we can decide who can do business in America.
Will America actually stop supporting inhumane, cruel and unchristian dictators? No! There is too much profit in supporting dictators and our country is driven by personal and corporate greed.
We need to face the fact that America and most Americans are hypocrites. We scream we love freedom, but then support dictators. We try to control the world with our armies, occupations and killing. Someday soon this will all backfire on us and we will be held accountable.
No Christian can support dictators. If we don’t want a dictator to rule in America we can’t support it anywhere. Jesus said:
Matthew 22:37-40
37And He said to him, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'
38"This is the great and foremost commandment.
39"The second is like it, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
40" On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

You said it well brother. We as a country have rebuilt the Tower of Babel, rebuilt with dollars, not bricks and God is shaking the whole house of cards as we speak. The unreported fuel for the fires in Egypt comes down to food. Something that is produced in God's creation and is the right of all of God's people, that corporations and government has inserted the dollar between it and man. Great hub! Keep up the great work.
