Will Sara Palin WIN in 2012?
In general the American public didn’t like the first two years of Obama and the Democrat control of congress. We know this because the Republicans took back the US House and came close to taking back the Senate in 2010.
In fact I can’t remember when a US government under the complete control of either party didn’t get in trouble with the voters. There is an arrogance of power when one party controls both the Presidency and the Congress. The total control seems to bring out the worst no matter which party is in power.
The question is will the public finish the job of renouncing the Democrats by electing more Republicans and electing Sara Palin as the President in 2012?
It appears clear that Obama is now neutered and will not get anything else passed in the new congress. The Republican leaders have stated clearly they are going to stop everything he tries to do. In fact Senator McConnell the Republican leader in the Senate said the number thing for the Republicans was to make sure Obama is a one term president.
I have said I don’t dislike Palin, but I just don’t think she has the right mix of education, experience, intelligence and vision to be president. That doesn’t mean she can’t win.
What do you think about Sara Palin in 2012? Is she the right person and can she win the support of the Republican party and then beat Obama in 2012?
I think the follow are important to answering this question.
1. Palin has to tell us what she intends to do as President about key issues, not just blast Obama
2. The Republicans have to show some leadership and try to solve problems in the next congress
3. The Republicans have to avoid making the next two years a get Obama campaign, Americans don’t like witch hunts
4. Palin has to convince the Republican leadership to support her; that means key senators and governors
5. Palin has to pick the right Vice President; Romney, Huckabee, Newt, etc
I also think the public will be watching Obama and the Democrats closely and what they do will have an impact.
1. Will Obama give up his principles and go along with the Republicans to get things done; tax cuts for Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and the 400 American billionaires, repeal part of the healthcare reform, roll back financial regulation, etc?
2. Will Obama try to just “get along” with everyone and make nice with everyone hoping this will be enough to WIN in 2012?
3. Will the Democrats do anything different to try to show they want to work with Republicans and win over independents?
A recent poll showed that the Democrat base stayed home in 2010. Over 55% of the young vote for Obama in 2008 didn’t vote. Blacks and Hispanics voted in lower numbers and the women’s vote dropped from 55% in 2008 to 49% in 2010.
I think this is because Obama set high expectations that he was going to make real change and when he and the Democrats got power they looked just like the Republicans, with back room deals and lobbyists writing legislation.
In fact it made many who voted for Obama cringe and turn away because it was business as usual only with Democrats in charge.
I am not sure Palin really wants to be president. If she does I think there are two basic possibilities for Palin.
1. She goes directly to the public and makes no deals with the Republican Party for support.
2. She gets in bed with the Republican Party and cuts deals to get their support.
I guess the other question is does the Republican Party need Sara Palin to win back the White House?
What do you think?
