Why MORAL VALUES matter in society and government?

First let’s be clear what moral values are.  These are values based on morality.  What is MORALITY?

Morality = a doctrine or system based on moral conduct.  Moral = principles relating to right and wrong.

If these moral principles are not absolute and final, and if they don’t apply to every case and every situation; they are relative.  Relative values are subject to each situation.  Here in lies danger for all involved.

One example is the Republicans belief that no one should torture our citizens, but it is somehow okay for us to torture the Taliban.  No one should lock our citizens up without providing due process, but we can lock up others and not provide due process.  A system based on “relative moral values” is worthless, like most Republicans who propose them.

I first voted in 1960.  I have seen five decades of American politics and politicians and we are in big trouble because most of our politicians lack moral values.  Most are reelected at a rate of about 95% and they have been bought and paid for by business interests and the rich.

America was at one time a beacon in the world for moral values and democracy, but that beacon was burned to the ground under Bush and his band of war criminals. 

In order to regain some respect in the world we must hold people responsible for their actions in the name of America.  What was done was done in your name.

I am a Christian and I believe in the commandments and the Golden Rule and I expect all to follow these simply because they make sense and control evil behavior.

Matthew 22:39

GOLDEN RULE -

12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

Bush and the Republicans violated everything Jesus demanded from his followers.  What did these immoral politicians do?

·         Mistreated prisoners –starvation, head slapping, head slamming, restraint in painful positions, sensory deprivation, denial of the right to be charged, see an attorney, be treated in a humane way

·         Violated international and America law by maintaining secret prisons, mistreating prisoners and denying our responsibilities under the Geneva Conventions

·         Americans – spied on without a warrant, locked up without charges and held for years in a secret prison, lied to about the extent of the terrorist threat

·         Bent the rules to help banks and Wall Street steal over $2 trillion dollars, and then gave the crooks $2 trillion in taxpayer money to bail them out

·         Lied about the real threat of Al Qaeda and the Taliban

·         Passed the Bush tax cuts that gave the 400 American billionaires (Bill Gates and Warren Buffett included) tens of billions in tax cuts they didn’t need or deserve

·         Allow American corporation to keep hundreds of billions in off-shore accounts to avoid paying taxes estimated by the IRS at $300 billion per year

·         Allow 200,000 Americans to hid money in secret Swiss bank accounts to avoid paying estimated by the IRS at over $100 billion in taxes each year

·         Allows the Federal Reserve (The Fed) to be run of, by and for the crooks on Wall Street and in failed banks

·         Appointed Wall Street crooks to positions of power in our government so they can influence policy in favor of the rich speculators and at the expense of the America taxpayer

·         Spend 48% of our federal income taxes on war and the military, including maintaining over 1,000 foreign military bases at taxpayer expense

·         Support and protect dictators around the world with American troops and taxpayer dollars, to name just two Communist China and Saudi Arabia

I am sad to say I voted for Obama to end this nightmare and I got more of the same.  It is true Obama talks a different line, but his policies are much like those of Bush/Chaney and he refuses to investigate and hold people accountable for war crimes committed in the name of America.

It is discouraging that most of those who have committed these terrible acts and are continuing to commit these acts call themselves Christians.

None of the above would have happened Bush and the others had followed the instructions of their personal savior Jesus Christ and kept his commandments.

John 14:15 “If ye love me keep my commandments.”

Obama must investigate charges of war crimes against the CIA and the military and make public the findings.  If people broke the law they must be brought to justice.
